Internship to Gain Work Experience
Students are expected to complete a minimum of 80 hours of internship or practicum in the fields of higher education or international higher education administration and leadership.
Most students find on-campus part-time jobs either on their own or with our help. We encourage students to find on-campus, part-time employment at units such as Study Abroad, International Students Services, Admissions Office, International Internship Program, and other units at UW–Madison. If you are unable to find an internship, we will work with units on and off campus to help find a position or practicum site.
Internships and part-time positions students have held:
- Study Abroad Event & Outreach Coordinator, UW–Madison
- International Student Services Peer Advisor, UW–Madison
- Advising and Coordination Graduate Assistant, UW–Madison International Internship Program
- Marketing and Social Media Assistant, UW-Madison Department of Materials Science and Engineering
- Student Services Project Assistant, UW–Madison College of Engineering
- Student Program Advisor, Intercultural Exchange Center of Madison College.
- Evaluation Assistant, One Earth International Credential Evaluations
Balancing Work and Study
Students may work while they are enrolled in the Global Higher Education program. We encourage you to find a part-time job on campus.
Our courses are primarily offered during evenings, with class starting at either 4:40 or 7:15 p.m.
Please be aware that the three-semester program is intensive and that many courses are only offered once per year.
