If you are an international applicant, and you submit your application after March 1st, please notify the Program Director, Dr. Weijia Li for accelerating the review process, so you can have enough time to apply for student visa.

Admission Requirements:
- A minimum undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0. (If your undergraduate GPS is below 3.0, you can write and submit an essay (no more than two pages) explaining why the GPA does not reflect your capabilities and competence of completing a master’s degree. You will be able to submit the essay as a supplemental document at the online application portal.
- A bachelor’s degree in any field is required.
- GRE scores are not required.
- For international applicants: The Graduate School currently accepts test results from TOEFL iBT, IELTS, and IELTS Indicator to fulfill the English proficiency requirement. Beginning with spring 2025 admit term applicants, the Graduate School will accept English proficiency test scores from the Duolingo English Test.You must submit your scores following the directions below:
- TOEFL scores must be submitted electronically via ETS. Our institution code is 1846.
- IELTS scores can be submitted electronically or by mail via IELTS. To send electronically, select our account name UW-Madison Graduate School. To send by mail, use the following address:
